The Whale-Hunt: A Tale in Images

Nomi Dayan

Abstract: The Whaling Museum shares unique photographs illustrating the whalehunt taken by scientist Robert Cushman Murphy while aboard the Daisy in 1912-1913. From sighting the whale to processing oil, the detailed images illustrate how technology and toil relied on each other in the whaling industry, including the most brilliant innovation of Yankee whaling, the whaleboat.
